Blue screen, often during sleep or resume

DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

A driver did not handle a power-state transition correctly.

TRY THIS FIRST

Check the crash timing

Note whether the crash followed sleep, wake, shutdown or a driver change. Look in Event Viewer → Windows Logs → System at that time.

Read-only check

Result: Nearby device errors may identify the driver that needs investigation.

Still not working?

If a specific driver is implicated, check the PC/device maker’s update or rollback guidance. A dump analysis may be needed; avoid blaming a driver from its name alone.

Check the result: After a targeted fix, test the same sleep/resume scenario.

Choose the entry that matches where the error appeared. A code alone does not identify every cause. Commands are copied for you to review; this page does not run them.
