Hi, I’m Iikka.
I make Hanki Tools in Finland. It’s the toolkit I always wanted when a PC started acting up: one place that shows what Windows is actually reporting, explains it in plain language, and helps you decide what to do next.
Why I built Hanki
Most “PC fixer” apps promise one-click miracles and change things you never asked them to. I wanted the opposite. Hanki reads what Windows already records, tells you what it means and suggests what to check next. Changes are previewed first and can be undone where Windows allows it. It’s free for noncommercial use and source-available under the PolyForm Noncommercial license, so anyone can see exactly how it works.
Hanki is my independent project. If something in the app or on this site is wrong, tell me and I’ll fix it.
My background
I’ve worked in IT since 2009. I started in IT support, fixing people’s computers, and went on to work as a technical specialist, solution specialist and development manager. Since then I’ve been a consultant, partner and CTO, managed configuration management development, worked as a lead and senior advisor, and spent several years as a freelance ServiceNow consultant in IT operations and service management. Today I work as an application architect.
Much of that work has been about discovery and configuration management: finding out what is really on a machine before anyone changes it. Hanki brings the same habit to your own PC.
What sisu has to do with it
Sisu is Finnish for grit: the quiet determination to keep going. Troubleshooting a stubborn PC takes a bit of it. Hanki is meant to give you a little of that help. Less digging, more doing.
How the guides are written
Every guide starts with the tools built into Windows and links to Microsoft’s own documentation where it helps. When Hanki can help, the guide names the exact screen to open. Each guide shows when it was last updated, and I revise guides when Windows or Hanki changes.
