Kernel-Power 41

The system rebooted without a clean shutdown

Windows detected an unexpected shutdown. This event records the result, not the cause.

TRY THIS FIRST

Check the restart evidence

Open PowerShell as administrator and paste this command.

Reads the three latest matching events · Administrator access may be needed

PowerShell
Get-WinEvent -FilterHashtable @{LogName='System'; ProviderName='Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power'; Id=41} -MaxEvents 3 | Format-List TimeCreated, Message

Result: Match the time to the restart you noticed. No matching events means this log has none available.

Still not working?

Open that event's Details tab in Event Viewer and look for BugcheckCode. A nonzero value can point to a blue-screen error; zero does not prove a power-supply fault. Check nearby events and what was happening before the restart. There is no universal PowerShell repair for event 41.

Check the result: After addressing the identified cause, check whether the same workload or sleep/resume cycle still causes a restart.

Choose the entry that matches where the error appeared. A code alone does not identify every cause. Commands are copied for you to review; this page does not run them.
