What is frame generation?

Frame generation creates additional displayed frames between conventionally rendered frames using a supported graphics feature.

QUICK EXPLANATION

Distinguish displayed FPS from rendered FPS

Generated frames can make motion appear smoother, but a higher displayed frame counter does not mean the game simulation or input response is running at that rate.

Frame generation may add latency or visual artifacts; results and mitigation features vary by game and system.

Result: Some overlays distinguish rendered FPS from generated or displayed FPS; others may not.

How to check it

Check the game's feature notes and use a supported latency measurement where available. Try it only if the image and control response suit the game.

Check: Compare responsiveness and visual artifacts in a repeatable scene, not only the displayed FPS number.
