Frequently asked questions
Short answers about Hanki Tools: cost, safety, SmartScreen warnings, administrator rights, undo, updates, privacy and supported Windows versions.
Is Hanki free?
Yes. Hanki Community is free for noncommercial use under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0, including its diagnostic and manual tools. Pro and Technician are planned paid editions for extra automation; they aren't on sale yet, and existing Community features stay free. See Editions.
Will a scan change my settings?
No. Scans and checks are read-only. Hanki saves scan history on your PC. Changes only happen after you review and approve them.
Why does Windows warn me before it runs?
Hanki isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows a warning for the first run. Signing is pending through the SignPath Foundation program. Compare the SHA-256 checksum from the release before running; see Verify the checksum.
Does Hanki need administrator rights?
No. Run it as a standard user. Windows asks for administrator approval only when you choose an action that needs it, such as some repairs, Defender commands or frame-rate capture.
Can I undo what Hanki changed?
Supported changes are saved in Recovery before they happen and can be undone there. Some actions, such as permanent deletion, can't be undone. See Recovery and undo.
Does Hanki update itself?
No. Run the newer installer in the same install scope, or extract a new portable ZIP. Your history and recovery data are kept.
Does Hanki send my data anywhere?
Not by itself. There are no analytics or automatic uploads. Network features, the optional AI chat and licence checks run only when you use them. See Your data.
Which Windows versions are supported?
64-bit Windows 11 is the tested target. ARM64, Windows Server and older Windows versions aren't certified.
Is Hanki an antivirus?
No. Hanki explains what Microsoft Defender reports and gives you its controls. Its own file scanner is experimental and not a replacement for antivirus protection.
Will Tune my PC make my PC faster?
It can't promise that. Tune my PC changes only settings with a documented reason and says so when no change is needed. Measure before and after in Performance Lab to see what a change did on your PC.
Why is my data in a folder called IgezziGuard?
It's the project's original name. The data folder keeps it so history and recovery data carry over between versions.
