Known limits

What Hanki Tools does not do or cannot prove: diagnosis limits, the experimental scanner, cleanup sizes, unsigned builds and untested hardware.

Hanki is built to be honest about what it can conclude. These are the limits worth knowing.

Evidence and diagnosis

  • A finding is a lead, not a guaranteed diagnosis. A passing check, a quiet event log or an empty detection list doesn't prove a PC is healthy.
  • A crash marker or a debugger's suspected driver does not establish the root cause.
  • Missing permissions, drivers or WMI can make some counters unavailable.
  • Pagefile advice doesn't set a custom size or confirm crash-dump readiness.
  • App-usage observation can be incomplete and doesn't prove an app is unused.

Security

  • Hanki is not an antivirus or a vulnerability scanner. The file scanner is experimental: a test signature and simple heuristics, no malware feed, no archive unpacking, no real-time protection, and files over 512 MiB are skipped.
  • Hanki doesn't undo remediation that Microsoft Defender performs.

Cleanup

  • Duplicate sizes are logical file sizes, not guaranteed disk-space savings, and recycling doesn't free space until the Recycle Bin is emptied.
  • Permanently deleted files can't be restored.

Performance

  • No guaranteed speed gains. Measure before and after in Performance Lab.
  • In-game settings, BIOS settings and switching G-SYNC on stay steps for you to take.
  • AMD Radeon support hasn't been tested on AMD hardware yet. Tactical Vision needs real-game verification on more NVIDIA drivers.
  • Frame rates need administrator rights. In-game frame limits aren't visible to Hanki.

Platform and releases

  • 64-bit Windows 11 is the tested target; ARM64, Windows Server and older Windows versions are not certified.
  • Releases are not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen warns and Smart App Control can block them.
  • Hanki does not update itself.
  • Some screens and all detailed reports are English only.
