Recovery and undo

What Hanki records before a change, how to undo it from Recovery, and the other ways back for startup entries, deleted files and app entries.

Recovery lists every change Hanki made, from both Fix my PC and Tune my PC, with undo. Know where your way back is before you change something.

What Recovery can undo

  • Power plans, power mode, maximum processor state and Energy saver
  • IPv4 DNS changes
  • Startup-folder changes
  • Display mode, per-app GPU choice and Windows gaming settings
  • NVIDIA per-game and global settings, and AMD Radeon settings

Recovery keeps one active entry per setting. If you change a setting Hanki already changed, undo still goes back to your original value.

Other ways back

Leftover app entry removedDouble-click its .reg backup in the app-entry-backups folder

What can't be undone

  • Files deleted permanently.
  • Apps uninstalled with their own uninstaller.
  • Threats Microsoft Defender remediated under its own policy.
  • Some Windows repairs, which have no per-file Hanki undo. The repair review says so before you approve.

Hanki also explains the limits of Windows restore points in Recovery.

Keep your recovery data

Recovery journals and startup-file backups live in %LOCALAPPDATA%\IgezziGuard. Uninstalling or updating Hanki keeps them. Don't delete that folder while you might still need to restore a setting or a disabled startup file. See Your data.
